Taxi man robbed by passengers
In other crime news, an elderly Belize City taxi driver was robbed at the stroke of midnight last night. The Albert Street cab driver, seventy year old Lester Coleman picked up two men who wanted to be taken to a Faber’s Road address. One man who was wearing a striped, sleeveless shirt and long blue jeans pants got into the passenger seat while the other man who was wearing a green shirt and blue jeans pants sat in the back seat of the vehicle. As they approached a police booth on Faber’s road the man in the passenger seat asked Coleman to stop the vehicle and he then demanded money and started to choke him. Coleman gave the assailant the thirty dollars he had in his pocket but the robber hit him in the face. The seventy year old managed to open up the driver’s side door of the car and slipped out. The two men then drove off in Coleman’s car.
