City prepares to welcome 2009
It is the countdown to the New Year, and News Five has a peek at the many activities planned around the City to usher in 2009. Whatever your mood is, there is plenty entertainment. The day begins with a huge live concert by Channel Five which will set the tone for the rest of the day. In the evening, the B.D.F. will perform their traditional twenty-one gun salute during the Love FM New Years Eve celebration on Albert Street. If you’d rather be in a club, KREM radio has brought Caribbean artist Konshens, to perform hits such as Rasta Imposta, and Ghetto Youths Have Fi Buss at the Palm Island Night Club alongside Belizean sensation Melonie Gillett. Club Next at the Princess Hotel and Casino has imported Black-Chiney, a trio of Jamaican DJ’s who will be spinning the latest dancehall music into the wee hours of the morning. At the Tavern, a Hawaiian styled event will welcome the year to come. And if you want music outdoors, the Birds Isle will be going “old school” tomorrow night with DJ Motion and the Code Red Crew. And if you manage to wake up January first, 2009, you can catch the Krem cycling classic in which riders race from Corozal to Belize City.
