Fire at Belcove Hotel quickly contained
After three p.m. this afternoon, alarms went off in downtown Belize City as a fire engine raced down Regent Street, contrary to traffic. And almost as quickly as it reached the end of the street, it turned around and raced back towards the Swing Bridge. It appeared that the source of the alarm was Belcove Hotel at number nine Regent Street West. While the two engines deployed to the hotel got there in record time, the source of the fire was already put out. It seems that an electrical fault sparked a small fire inside a dryer that the hotel had recently bought. The commotion caused a bit of a stir, no one was harmed but some towels were destroyed.
