Seven Cayo families get homes for Christmas

Seven families will not only be opening new gifts, but they will be doing so under brand new roofs after receiving new houses for Christmas. Minister of Economic Development and Area Representative for the Cayo West constituency, Erwin Contreras, officially handed over the houses on Tuesday to seven residents of Arenal Village that was devastated by the recent floods of tropical depression sixteen. The dwellings are valued at a total cost of one hundred thousand dollars and were built under the housing program of the Ministry of Housing. The new buildings are expected to accommodate about sixty persons and Minister Contreras said that they are a testament of the government’s commitment to provide affordable housing to Belizeans.
