According to a government press release, after New Year’s Day next week Thursday, the next holiday will be on Baron Bliss Day on March ninth, which will fall on a Monday. Easter comes a month later, with Good Friday being April tenth, Good Saturday on the eleventh, and Easter Monday on April thirteenth. Labour Day, May first, falls on a Friday giving another long weekend. Sovereign’s Day, also known as Commonwealth Day, will be celebrated on Monday, May twenty-fifth, in lieu of the Sunday. The four month holiday-hiatus ends on September tenth, a Thursday; while Independence Day drops on a Monday. Pan American Day, October twelfth, is also on a Monday. Garifuna Settlement Day will fall on a Thursday, while next year’s Christmas Day holiday will be another four-day holiday, with the twenty-fifth on a Friday and Boxing Day being commemorated on the Monday the twenty-eight in lieu of Saturday the twenty-sixth. Out of the thirteen yearly observances, nine will give long weekends.
