Two robbers hold up Freetown Drug Store

Story PictureIt seems that there is no end to the stream of robberies that are coinciding with the Christmas Holidays. People at home, on the streets and every type of business have been targeted. Last night it was a drugstore on Freetown Road in Belize City that became part of the crime statistics. Raul Acevedo, the owner of Freetown Drugstore, was experiencing an ordinary business night until masked thugs armed with a handgun stormed his establishment. Acevedo related the ordeal, which was caught on camera.

Raul Acevedo, Owner, Freetown Drugstore
“I have security camera. As a matter of fact, I caught them on security camera. I need to increase it more and of course, get security guards. About nine-thirty, minutes to ten last night two guys walked in the drug store, put a gun on my son. My son was standing outside by the gate and they put a gun at his head and bring him inside. When they bring him in the store, my first reaction was to protect my son. I had some cards in there, I was serving a gentleman and I went and approached them and I said listen, just take it easy, unnu wah get whatever unnu want. Just tek it easy and no mess with the customers them. I went to the cash register and I told the guys them—they told everybody to get on the floor and I went to the back to get the cash for them. Then I went to the cash register, one of them with the gun came and slammed the cash register, broke up the cash register and so I just give them the money.”

“This incident last about thirty to forty-five seconds the most then they just walked back out. Dehn neva hurt nobody—just one of the customers, they took away her cell phone. Apart from that, dehn neva mess with nobody else.”

“Were they wearing masks?”

Raul Acevedo
“Yes they were, the two of them had masks. One of them had a red rag over his face and the other had a blue rag over his face. The one with gun had a blue rag and the one without gun had a red rag. He had a cap with false hair as the disguise, so both of them had disguise.”

Acevedo says that the robbers got about eight hundred dollars.
