More robberies occurring as Christmas gets closer
And in the Magistrate Court, Cecil Castillo, a twenty-three year old labourer of Iguana Street Extension, was charged with two counts of robbery. Castillo pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded into custody until February fourth. The incident occurred around seven-ten p.m. on Tuesday. George Meggs, a forty-one year old boat captain and Rosita Polanco, a forty year old domestic worker reported that they were in their yard at Antelope Street Extension when two men rode in on bicycles. Meggs told police that one of the men pointed a pistol at them and demanded that they hand over all their belongings. Meggs said he handed over his cell phone and Polanco gave them fifty dollars. Both culprits then rode away. That same day, police detained Castillo, who was positively identified by both Meggs and Polanco in an identification parade. The second suspect is still at large.
Tis the season for robberies and tonight there are two more cases for the cops… Forty-three year old Abigail Plummer reported to police that sometime between seven-forty-five a.m. and six-thirty p.m. on Wednesday her home was burglarized. The thief or thieves gained access to the building by removing louvers from a bedroom window and stole several items including a camera, jewelry, watches, perfumes and eight hundred dollars in cash. Police have detained three minors pending charges.
The other report came from forty-two year old Steven Patterson. According to the construction worker, around nine on Wednesday night he was in front of a Chinese grocery shop on West Canal when four men on bicycles came up to him. Patterson told police that one of the men pulled out a handgun, pointed it at him, and grabbed a gold chain from around his neck. Police are looking for the suspects.
