Second man charged in carnal knowledge of 15 year old

Story PictureA second man has been found guilty of the carnal knowledge of a fifteen year old girl. In the Supreme Court today, a jury of six women and three men deliberated for around three hours to reach the verdict against Rupert Flowers aka “Sand and Gravel.” The sixty-five year old former driver and mechanic from the Ministry of Works won’t hear his sentence until December twenty-third in the Court of Justice Adolph Lucas as he is being given time to prepare his mitigation plea. Flowers joins his forty-one year old friend Leroy Stevens, who was also been convicted of carnal knowledge of the same fifteen year old girl about two months ago and will spend six years behind bars.

The incident occurred on September 2006 at Flowers’ house in Hattieville. The girl who was a primary school student at the time testified that Flowers invited her to his premises where he had sex with her and then gave her one dollar and fifty cents. But on taking the dock, Flowers said that he has been impotent for six years because of his diabetic condition, high blood pressure, and a kidney ailment. While he admitted that the girl went to his house, he denied having sex with her. Instead Flowers claimed he drove her away and threatened to make a report to the principal of the school. But the jury did not believe that story and found him guilty.
