Belizean knocks down two Mexican nationals
An accident in Chetumal has left one Mexican national dead, another hospitalized and a Belizean behind bars. Samuel August, a Belizean, was driving a mini bus at around one Wednesday morning on the Escarcega Road in Chetumal. Also on the road at the time was Mexican national thirty-five year old Mario Aguilar Chan, who was driving a black Yamaha motorcycle with his passenger Juahtemoc Hidalgo Miranda when the white Blue-Bird mini bus, bearing Belizean license plates D6894 hit him. Chan was killed on impact, while Miranda’s injuries have kept him hospitalized. Mexican Federales have wasted no time with their investigations. August was placed in custody of the Public Ministry of Quintana Roo, through the Federal Police and he was found to be at fault. He is accused of making a left turn without giving way to the motorcyclist coming in the opposite direction, which caused the collision, the death of Chan, and injuries to Miranda. According to sources, the incident is not considered to be a grave crime and August can be released from custody within forty-eight hours… that is if he can make bail. August will be obliged to present himself before the Mexican Penal judge of First Offenders for the continuation of the judicial process at a later date.
