Ministry of Works paves section of mile 4
Though the delay in the paving of Albert and Regent Streets was disappointing, the Ministry of Works was able to begin works on a portion of the Northern Highway which was washed away during the floods. Cadet Henderson, C.E.O. in the ministry, says that the damaged section of the road will be completed before this newscast ends.

“On the Northern Highway in the vicinity of mile four, four point three, we’re about to pave about seven hundred feet of it. We’ve had quite some disappointments here on Albert Street today but I’m sure our program as scheduled for the Northern Highway continues. That operation is being done totally under our management and equipment. So we’re moving there and I’m sure we will execute that seven hundred feet as scheduled.”

“It’s a different sort of mix you have for that also.”
Cadet Henderson
“Yeah, it’s a completely different mix, chip sealer surface dressing. It takes just three pieces of equipment to do that process which is the spreader, the chip spreader and the pneumatic roller that does the final set.”
Jose Sanchez
“This will be completed by then?”
Cadet Henderson
“We’ll do that whole operation in not more than two hours and reopen traffic immediately.”
Jose Sanchez
“But what time should commuters be able to use that portion of the highway?”
Cadet Henderson
“We have no choice, we cannot stop traffic. While we are paving it traffic will be using half of the highway and I’m sure by six o clock we will have it all in place.”
