No increment freeze for UB teachers
But after the news was revealed of the financial mess, the Board delivered its decision in respect of the increment freeze and tuition increases, which sparked off protests in the nation’s capital earlier this week by the students, faculty and staff. Here’s how that went.
Imani Fairweather-Morrison, Chair, UB Board
“It has decided to take the following actions: one; to reverse its decision in relation to the matter of the increment until it has completed the review of the finances, two; for the time being to suspend the consideration of a concept paper calling for changes to the current tuition rates, three; to take immediate and appropriate action with respect to those responsible for the omission that eventually led to the unfortunate sequence of events that transpired over the past few days. And four; to further review the finances of the university. We, at this stage, will not single the individuals out.”
