Heritage Center captures history of Travelers’ rums

Story PictureThey are known nationally and internationally for the prestigious one barrel rum, Cristal rum and tropical brandy and on Friday, Travelers Liquors Limited celebrated its success with the history of their product. The business is owned by the Perdomo family and at Friday’s inauguration of a museum, Travelers was honoured as one of the biggest companies in the tourism industry. At the opening of the Heritage Centre, the company unveiled its latest product, Don Omario Vintage ten-year rum, which will be sold only at the Heritage Center. And according to Chairman, Romel Perdomo, the vintage rum is in honour of his father, Jaime Omario Perdomo Senior, who passed away ten years ago.

Romel Perdomo, Chairman Travellers Liquors Limited
“The opening of this historical center is two things; one is the evolution of the rum industry in Belize as you today and about a true entrepreneur nationalist whose stubborn perseverance and steadfast work ethics inspired those around him. Today, we at Travellers Liquors live this man’s dream.”

Manuel Heredia, Minster of Tourism
“No doubt, the nature and quality of Travellers’ products will be heavily tested this Christmas season. Thanks to the assistance from the European Development Fund Program from the rum sector, administered by the West Indian Rum and Spirits Association, the work of the Perdomo family and the employees of Travellers Liquors can now be highlighted as an integral part of our natural heritage.”

According to Heredia, Belizean companies will be able to access grants from the Ministry of Tourism to invest in improving products for domestic and international markets.
