Jermaine Belgrave charged with attempted murder of a cop
Last Friday, well-known police figure, Corporal Harold Grinage, was shot at numerous times. The bullets did not find their mark and the officer was able to identify the gunmen. Police confirm that they have arrested one of the two suspects. Jermaine Belgrave appeared in front of the Chief Magistrate, Margaret Gabb McKenzie, and was charged with a single charge of attempted murder. He was remanded into custody at the Hattieville Prison until May nineteenth. Police say they continue the search for their second suspect, Jeffery Flowers. Grinage was on mobile patrol at the corner of Baghdad and Alexandria Streets when he spotted the two men. When he identified himself, both men allegedly ran towards Water Lane and then opened fire in Grinage’s direction. Fifteen expended shells were allegedly found at the scene.
This past Monday, Belgrave handed himself in to police. It is not his first time in the courts where he has appeared both as the accused and as the victim.
