Now it’s finally time to check out the best chow mein in Belize City voted by you.

Safiyyah Mohammed
“Hey guys, we’re here at Chon Saan Palace to check out the best chow mein in Belize City voted by you.”

Lee Mark Chang, Manager, Chon Saan Palace
“Chow mein is a combination of cabbage, carrots, salary, onions and whichever vegetables we have or the broccoli; we put that also in the chow mein.”

Safiyyah Mohammed
“So what do you think is the secret to making Chon Saan’s chow mein the best?”

Lee Mark Chang
“I guess it’s fresh. Everyday it’s cooked from scratch at all times. All of the marinating, we do a Chon Saan extension distribution. What we do, everything is prepared here at this restaurant and then we send it out to the other restaurants and when they use it they will taw it out to cook. So we have a standardized taste. There’s only two person who does all the seasoning and marinating for Chon Saan; it’s either myself or my father.”

Safiyyah Mohammed
“Oh okay, see I didn’t know that. I learned something. I think it’s really good. I think I know why it’s the best in Belize City. Some people eat it with ketchup or soy sauce but what do you think is the best topping?”

Lee Mark Chang
“My preference would be fresh and hot, as soon as possible. Some people prefer it salty; that’s where you add a little soy sauce but you should try the chow mein first and it it’s not salty enough, then you add a little soy sauce. Some people like it spicy and they will ad in some pepper and if they want a little sweetish taste then I guess ketchup is applied.”
