Season two of Duets winners take home $10,000

Story PictureSeason two of Duets closed with a bang Tuesday night at the Bliss Centre. It was a fun packed show with energetic performances from the judges, the top three duos and the host. The crowning moment came with the announcement of the number one Duet who received the highest number of text votes as presented by the Panel Kerr Foster auditing firm. News’ Five Duane Moody captured the before and after scenes from the Bliss.

The finale featured performances by host William Neal and all three judges. The night started off with an old-school mix from veteran dancers: William and Melissa Forman, who dusted off their dancing shoes and got down and dirty on the Bliss stage, a ballad from Santi, a reality check by Ann-Marie and a hip performance from Jenny.

This was followed by performances from the three finalists: the Garnetts duos, Wayne and Tyrone and Delonie and Gilbert. Backstage, the finalists were anxiously awaiting the results. With a possibility of winning the big prize, all six participants had plans

Jermaine Garnett, Finalist
“Weh we wahn do with the money, she gwein back to school, I will put it eena my business cause I got wah business weh I deh the run and finish off my house so me and my son could live in deh and thing.”

Katheryne Garnett, Finalist
“Yeah and with my going back to school thingy, like he said we noh only wah di tek it fi put it eena our goals or whatever based pan we, we wah give it back to the public. I wahn study fi be in the medical field; I want to be a nurse and thing so I can give back to the community through that service weh dat provide and thing. We got to think bout the people dehn to, cause dah they got we yah.”

Wayne Moses, Finalist
“If we win the money, I am going to put half of the money to my children education and minor repairs on my house. I think people have to look at it this way, that it is a season and who was constant and the go with the crowd.”

Tyrone Nunez, Finalist
“I think that people only watch pan di last performance and dehn have to notice dat dah noh just by weeks. Ih comes from di beginning to di end of di show and it builds up as it goes along. I’ll give majority to my ma to fix and renovate our house because we noh really have it all that good so I really in this competition fi help out my family.”

Delonie Grant, Finalist
“I feel nervous and I really noh know weh fi seh but I just hope we win and I think we deserve fi win. With my five, I plan fi help my ma out and I also the buy my plane ticket because I di fly out fi go dah England cause I get accepted into the British army to pursue my dream.”

Gilbert Gomez, Finalist
“With me, I plan to open fi open a business like I say already. My ma cook and I cook and if you spend it you think fi mek it back. So I mean I plan to open a business go dah school and finish off my education and everything.”

And then the results were revealed…

“Alright guys, you just won season two of Duets. How do you feel?”

Delonie Grant
“I feel excited.”

Gilbert Gomez
“I feel good too. I feel good.”

Duane Moody
“The hard work finally paid off, right?”

Gilbert Gomez
“Yes man, put a lot of work into it and it finally paid off. I have to thank she a lot because she is a great dancer, a strong dancer. So I have to thank ah wah lot for bring it every time we come to the stage.”

Delonie Grant
“The way how they do it, they mi make we feel like we mi wahn come in second and I mi deh the fret. I said oh my God, I no wahn know who come in second and who come in third. And den I just deh deh like okay and den when I heard they said Moses and Tyrone come in second den I done know dah only we left so.”

Duane Moody
“What kind of advice would you have for people who would want to compete next year and do what you guys did to take the gold?”

Gilbert Gomez
“Like we said, if you have a dream, push it and do it. Noh make nobody tell you, yoh can’t.”

Season two of Duets is over, but our local programming doesn’t stop and already there are plans on the drawing board for another talent show, KTV Latino. KTV Latino is for anyone, eighteen years and older, countrywide with skills to sing in Spanish. So stay tuned for this new show coming to you soon right here on Channel Five live! First place winner took home ten thousand dollars cash, while second and third place winners got three and two thousand dollars, respectively. In addition to the cash winnings, all six finalists received handsome consolation prizes.
