G.O.B. and U.S. sign M.O.U. on gun tracing
The Government of Belize and the United States of America today signed a memorandum of understanding. The document will enable Belizean law enforcement authorities to utilize the gun tracing facility available at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms at the United States Department of Justice. The signing took place today at the Headquarters of the Department of State in Washington, D.C. By having access to the E-Trace Facility’s gun tracing database, Belize law enforcement authorities will be able to tell where guns found in the country came from and possibly trace the routes of weapons utilized in criminal activities. Hopefully, that will mean more convictions in cases that fall apart because they are highly dependent on the testimony of unwilling witnesses.
