… And San Ignacio shopkeeper, customer are held up

Earlier we reported of burglaries in schools and in homes, and in the Cayo District, the owner of City Store in San Ignacio Town and one of his customers were robbed at gunpoint of their licensed weapons and cash. Thirty-seven year old Zu When Li reported to police that shortly after nine last night, he and his wife were in the store located at the corner of Third Street and Joseph Andrews Drive, when they were approached by two men, one tall and slim and the other stoutly built. Li says that the slim built robber pointed a black handgun at him and demanded money. He went to the counter and helped himself to a hundred dollars in different denominations. The gunman then hit Li twice on his head with the gun. His wallet containing three hundred and fifty Belize dollars and fifty U.S. dollars was stolen along with his nine millimetre Smith and Wesson pistol containing fifteen live rounds.

The robbers moved next to Chester Berry, the customer. The forty-four year old tour guide told police that when walking inside the store, he saw the slim built robber holding the proprietor at gun point. Berry says he attempted to walk off, but was attacked by the other culprit who searched him and took his revolver, cell phone, and wallet containing fifty U.S. dollars.
