Kurl Miller wins Bruk Dong competition
The National Institute of Culture and History held its annual Bruk Dong Competition on December Sixth at the House of Culture. The winner of the competition is Kurl Miller of the famed Gilharry Seven Band from the north. Miller’s band mates consisted kids who at an early age are showing great talent in music. Miller was happy with the trophy and two thousand dollars his group won at Saturday’s night’s competition. He stopped by News Five to share his joy for his song “Granny No Play When it Come Out To Christmas Day” was inspired by his grandmother.
Kurl Miller, Winner, Bruk Down Competition
“My name is Kurl Miller and I am actually the lead vocalist and the drummer for the Gilharry Seven Band. I got to know about this competition of mine due to a friend of mine, Ms. Zetina, who works at NICH and she gave me a call and I told her if I’m available for that night I’ll definitely enter the competition. So eventually I wasn’t needed to work for the Gilharry Seven so I entered the competition. I had this song written about two years ago that I wrote after my grandmother died and most of the song was written about her and what happens Christmas day.”
