Earlier in the newscast, we reported on a murder in Corozal Town, a second murder occurred in Orange Walk Town and this time it was a minor who was the victim.  Here again is Marion Ali.

Marion Ali, Reporting

Seventeen year old Erin Rivero Sutherland was stabbed at around twelve thirty on Sunday morning on Sapodilla Street in the Louisiana area of Orange Walk Town.

ASP Selvin Tillett, Deputy O.C., O.W.

“The motive at this moment is unknown but injuries were observed on his forehead, his back of his head, upper chest and abdomen.”

Marion Ali

“Was he a part of the same group or was it a group that attacked him?”

ASP Selvin Tillett

“He was socialising along with the group, so apparently there was a misunderstanding within themselves.  That’s what I understand.”

Marion Ali

“Okay, do you have anybody detained?”

ASP Selvin Tillett

“We have a suspect at this moment but apparently he has left the district and we are coordinating with Dangriga police to try and get that person for us.”

Marion Ali

“Dangriga?”

ASP Selvin Tillett

“That’s right, he’s from that area.  From information gathered it seems that there was only one person.”

Marion Ali

“The rest of the group didn’t aid in any way?”

ASP Selvin Tillett

“No way.”

Marion Ali

“Okay, it happened where, at the victim’s house?”

ASP Selvin Tillett

“It was in an alley, Sapodilla Street, Louisiana area.”

The news came as a shock to Sutherland’s family.
