S.I.B. says the economy rebounded by 8.2%
There is some good economic news to report. Third quarter G.D.P. figures released by the Statistical Institute of Belize reveals that the economy rebounded by eight point two percent. Leading the charge was electricity production, which shot up by fifty percent from July to September, and oil production which soared by thirty-three percent. According to S.I.B, that is a record high of three hundred and seventy-six barrels per day due in part to two more wells coming into production in August. The sectors which saw a decrease included government with two point five percent, construction fell three point two percent, while the fishing output declined eighteen point one percent. Overall, the nine month economic growth is estimated to be five point three percent, the highest since 2003.
