There is an update to report tonight in the recent robbery of the Atlantic Bank Branch at the corner of Cemetery and Magazine Roads. Just after six p.m. Wednesday night the police department recovered the busted but empty safe as well as three empty gun cases. The suspect charged with the burglary of the Atlantic Bank branch is Anthony McKay, a resident of Junesville.
Superintendent Julio Valdez, O.C., C.I.B.
“The break into Atlantic Bank on the Cemetery Road and magazine Road, a safe was stolen with some fire arms. Some time yesterday we get certain information. Police visited the Burrell Boom, a mile and a half from Burrell Boom area. Then on arrival there they found the safe—apparently it was tampered and opened—with some other items, a cap, shirt. Some gun cases that were apparently empty. So that was brought in and was identified as the safe stolen from the Atlantic Bank.”

“A computer was also stolen. Was there any vital information like credit card or accounts?”
Supt. Julio Valdez
“I can’t say what the banks would have in that computer which was stolen. I really don’t know what information they would have.”

“And do you have suspects, any leads?”
Supt. Julio Valdez
“At this time we have one person arrested and charged already and he is on remand at the Kolbe Foundation. So we have him as one but I know we are looking for two other suspects who we believe were also involved in this incident; the breaking into Atlantic Bank.”
On November twenty-fourth, the day of the crime, police found two holes in the chain link fence and noted that the padlocks on the shutter and burglar bars were cut. The shutter was ajar while the wooden door of the building was fully open. Stolen from the bank was a metal safe valued at over two thousand dollars containing two nine-millimetre Lugar and Smith and Wesson pistols and ammunition.
