Questions still surround death of prisoner inside cell

The death of a prison inmate at the Hattieville Prison is still under investigation tonight but it appears it may be a case of murder. Initial reports were that Alfonso Eck’s cellmate found him hanging by the neck. The death was initially reported as a suicide. A post mortem examination was completed yesterday but the official result has not yet been released. News Five was able to verify that the contents of the examination prompted the investigating officer to make a trip to the prison. Sources close to News Five allege that Eck may have died from strangulation and not hanging. Eck was convicted of maim and assault in 2005 and was to be released in 2010. On Thursday he received a new cellmate who was convicted of arson, robbery and theft. And on Friday night, one day later, he was found hanging from strips of cloth torn from his blanket. His cellmate cut him down before prison officials reached the cell.
