Also in Magistrates’ Court, Anthony McKay, a twice convicted felon who has been fingered in the recent robbery at the Atlantic Bank Collection Agency, was today charged with Burglary. McKay, a resident of Junesville, pleaded not guilty to the charge but was denied bail and will be in custody until January twenty-second, 2009.
The culprit broke into Atlantic Bank between November twenty-first and twenty-fourth, and stole a metal safe valued at over two thousand dollars containing two nine millimeter Lugar and Smith and Wesson pistols and ammunition. Also stolen from the bank were a microwave and a computer which were subsequently recovered. In total, the burglar made away with over nine thousand dollars in items. They found the shutter partially open and the wooden door on the northern side of the bank fully open. McKay was identified as a culprit in an identification parade. Records show that in 2002 and 2008, McKay was charged with fifteen offences including Handling Stolen Goods and Keeping a Prohibited Firearm and was sentenced to three years for each offence. The accused also has two pending cases for Attempted Burglary and Going Equipped.
