Attempted jacking lands culprits in K.H.M.H.

Story PictureLast Friday we reported on a shooting incident that occurred at the foot of the Swing Bridge in Belize City at about five p.m. In update to that story, Javier Castellanos, a thirty-five year old security guard, was walking over the bridge when two men on bicycles coming from Regent Street West darted towards him as he approached the Central Drug Store. Castellanos observed that one of the men was wearing a white T shirt, blue jeans pants and a stocking over his head; the other was also wearing a white T shirt and a black three-quarter jeans pants. One of the robbers attempted to grab Castellanos’ handgun and cell phone which were on the left side of his waist. The other robber, attempted to pull out a gun and Castellanos got down on his knee and opened fire on both of his attackers, shooting them in their legs. Police quickly responded and found twenty-six year old Kareem Barahona of Brides Alley, suffering from gunshot wounds. When police took Barahona to the hospital, they found thirty four year old Edmund Gladden of Fredrick Street also suffering from gunshot wounds to the leg. Both Barahona and Gladden were treated and detained pending charges.
