Hey I’m Safiyyah and this is What’s Happening Belize.
This weekend the Belize Dance company will be presenting their new performance entitled “Tribute”, a tribute to Beverly Smith. The shows will be held on Friday and Saturday at eight p.m. for fifteen dollars and ten dollars. Sunday’s performance will be at five p.m. costing ten dollars and five dollars. Tribute will be performed live inside the Bliss Center for Performing Arts. So take the family out and enjoy.
Gwen Lizarraga High School invites everyone out to their Christmas Fair to be held this Saturday night on their school campus. The Fair will run from four to eleven p.m. and will have lots of food and drinks on sale. There will be games, as well as horse and carriage rides. There will even be a Santa for the children to have their picture taken with. The cost to enter is one dollar for children under twelve years and two dollars for adults.
There will be a Karaoke competition for adults this Saturday in Ladyville at the Star Bright Pre-School for the adults. They will have giveaways and gate prizes. The competition starts at six p.m. and after the Karaoke is over a dance will follow. The cost to enter will be three dollars for the Karaoke and five dollars for the dance.
In San Pedro this Saturday, from eleven-thirty a.m. to six p.m., you are invited to the pool party and pool side concert featuring John Arthur Martinez and Kelly McGuire. There will be food and drinks on sale as well as games and mini golf. This event will be held at the San Pedro fitness club. Entrance is five dollars for Adults and three dollars for kids. So check that one out.
Up north in Corozal, this weekend, they are having their Gran festival. The festival will be highlighting the Maya Mestizo culture and history. There will be food and drinks and even dancing and live music on Sunday. The proceeds will go to a good cause to help improve Corozal Bay.
And lastly I’ve got to tell you about not one, but two big concerts happening this Saturday. The first happening here in Belize City will be held inside Club Next. It will feature Etana as well as Belizean Artists Melonie Gillett and Tanya Carter. Etana is best known for her hits like “Don’t Forget” and “Not Afraid”. The concert will also feature Black Chiney.
The second concert will feature Busy Signal, performing hits like “Not going down”, “Pan di Edge” and “Unknown Number”. We spoke to the artist and the promoter and they had this to say…
