Viewers say no to land cancellations

There has been a lot of reaction to the question: Does government have the right to take away land, if you own more than one parcel?  One response that got our attention is the following: “Belize needs an online Land Management System so that ALL Belizeans would be able to monitor lands distributed by government and the price paid. This would help to avoid under pricing, fraud, or protected areas violation.”

Another viewer wrote that “Every Belizean should be given a piece of land. It should be a birth right. Land is only given out during election time. I had a piece of land years ago and without my knowledge it was taken away. I’m now in the process of getting another piece. It is so much hassle but in the end it will all be worth it to have a piece of our beautiful jewel.”

On our e-poll, viewers voted eight four percent said government had no right to take away land and fourteen percent said yes.
