Telemedia donates $15,000 to Youth Business Trust
Youth Business Trust received a generous donation on Wednesday from Belize Telemedia Limited. Chairman of Telemedia’s Executive Committee, Dean Boyce, handed over a cheque for fifteen thousand dollars to Treasurer of the Board of the Youth Business Trust, Joe Habet. The handing-over took place at Telemedia’s Annual General Meeting at the Radisson Fort George Hotel.
The donation was Telemedia’s fourth as part of its commitment to the development of youth enterprise programmes in Belize. The first gist came in the form of free internet services for the daily office administration as well as for use by young entrepreneurs. Telemedia is also providing resources such as printing, design and use of Telemedia’s offices as satellite locations around the country for meetings with entrepreneurs. The third donation of ten thousand dollars along with Wednesday’s gift will be used to bridge the counterpart funding gap for the programme and for meeting the needs of the daily operations.
Youth Business Trust is a programme offering young people between the ages of eighteen and thirty-five assistance in starting their own businesses. The programme offers loan financing, training and mentoring for the young business people. It is funded by the Inter American Development Bank.
