Bonifacio Sosa dies after being knocked down

But a family is tonight mourning the death of seventy-nine year old Bonifacio Sosa of Trinidad Village in the Orange Walk District. According to reports Sosa was killed in a traffic accident when he was hit by a pickup truck driven by forty-eight year old Antonio Novelo. At about two-ten Monday afternoon, Novelo reported to police that while driving his white ford ranger pickup with license plate # OW-C-13337 on the Belize-Corozal Road, he hit a man who walked from behind a truck that was parked on the left side of the road. The victim identified as Sosa, sustained head and body injuries and was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. While undergoing treatment, Sosa succumbed to the injuries and a post mortem examination has since certified that the death was a result of hemorrhaging and head trauma. Police have formally arrested and charged Novelo for the crime of Manslaughter by Negligence, Causing Death by Careless Conduct and Driving without Due Care and Attention.
