There was much more violence over the weekend in murder capital, Belize City. Fortunately, none of the shootings were fatal but one teen was injured in the leg. Yearwood provided details of those three incidents.
Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Pres Officer
“The first one was on Friday the seventh of May at about ten p.m. C.I.B. personnel responded to a call and they visited the K.H.M.H. Trauma room where they saw one Sherman Rodney, nineteen years, of Belize City suffering from a single gunshot wound to the left Leg. Initial Investigation revealed that Rodney was standing inside his yard when a lone gunman dressed in full black clothing, wearing a black peak cap came walking, stopped in front of his yard and just fired several shots; one hitting him. The other one was Karen King, twenty-two years of Belize City, also on the seventh of May reported that—well actually this would be the eighth of May because this was like twelve-thirty a.m.—someone fired two shots towards her glass louver window causing a couple of her louvers to be damaged. Luckily, nobody inside her house was injured. Then we have one from Ms. Rosalyn Sabal. This was on the seventh of May around five-thirty p.m. she is saying that she was at home sleeping when she heard several shots being fired. She said that after the firing ceased, she went outside where she saw a dark skinned male person wearing a black and white cap. The male person then placed a black object that appeared to be a nine mm pistol inside his pants waist and then rode off on a bicycle.”
