Mendez hit in the head with hammer by common-law husband
The country is commemorating sixteen Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence, but on Sunday a woman found herself a victim of such an attack. Yesterday Orange Walk police visited the Northern Regional Hospital where they found twenty year old Amavir Mendez of Temash Street unconscious with a wound to her head. Investigations reveal that Mendez was in her bedroom when her common-law husband, Byron Diaz, for some reason attacked and hit her in the head with a hammer. Mendez was transferred to the K.H.M.H. for further treatment. Meanwhile, police are looking for Diaz.
