“Daddy Russian” goes to jail for laptop theft
Also in the Magistrate’s Court, thirty-seven year old Denfield “Daddy Russian” Bennett was charged with Theft today. The former rapper allegedly stole a laptop computer from a car that was parked on Regent Street in front of the Supreme Court and Magistrate Sharon Frazer charged him for the crime. Bennett pleaded not guilty to the charge and was offered a bail of two thousand five hundred dollars. The case was adjourned until January twentieth, but because Bennett was unable to make bail, he was remanded.
The incident occurred on Saturday when student of St. John’s College Junior College, twenty year old Randee Longsworth, reported to police that he parked his vehicle near the entrance of Battlefield Park. Upon return, he discovered that his car was broken into and his laptop valued at two thousand dollars was missing. An eyewitness who saw the incident, however, took the police to the taxi stand on Albert Street where the laptop was recovered. Bennett was identified to be the culprit and shortly after he was detained and charged.
