Minor charged for attempted murder and more

While Mark Seawell may be on his way out, a sixteen year old boy is spending the first of many nights on remand after he was charged today in the Belize Family Court with the shooting of twenty-nine year old Richard Flowers. The youth, a resident of Western Avenue, faces charges of Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm, Use of Deadly Means of Harm, Keeping a Firearm without a License and Keeping Ammunition without a Gun License. He was remanded until December twenty third. The incident occurred around seven-forty-five on the night of Friday, November twenty-first. Flowers, a resident of Fern Lane, reported to police that he was at home when someone called out his name. He said when he went outside to see who it was, several shots blasted his way, one of which hit him in he back. Police on mobile patrol in the area heard the shots and observed a youth fleeing on bike on Tibruce Street. Cops pursued the cyclist and reported that they saw him throw an object into some bushes. They eventually apprehended him at the corner of Oleander Street and Daisy Lane and took him to the spot where they retrieved a nine millimetre pistol with five live rounds. The weapon was reportedly marked Jericho Israel Military Industries on one side and made in Israel on the other.
