Three men accused in San Pedro murder walk free

In other news from the courts, three men walked down the steps of the Supreme Court free of charges of Murder earlier today. The reason, the chief witness could not be located to give testimony in the trial, making it the eighth case this month that the prosecution has been unable to proceed with. The three are twenty-one year old Bernard Williams Junior, twenty-six year old Luis Lalin and twenty year old Augustin Mungia who were in prison awaiting trial for the murder of fifty year old security guard Antonio Francisco Almendarez, who was killed in San Pedro on July twenty-sixth, 2005. Justice Adolph Lucas dismissed the men when Crown Counsel Nadine Palacio informed the court that the witness was not coming forward.

The men were also freed of charges of Burglary and Robbery.
According to a report to the cops, four men committed the crime, two of them allegedly kept Almendarez occupied while the other two went to the back of the compound where Almendarez was employed. He was struck on the back of the head with a crowbar and became unconscious and was gagged, handcuffed, and his feet were taped by his killers. The men used the opportunity to break into the building and ransack an iron safe that contained fourteen thousand seven hundred dollars Belize currency and a cheque for five thousand six hundred dollars. Williams was represented by attorney Arthur Saldivar while Lalin and Mungia were represented by Attorney Dickie Bradley. The fourth man was not charged and it is reported that he will testify at the trial.
