Jhermack Lopez breaks into ex-girlfriend’s bedroom
Eighteen year old Jhermack Lopez, a labourer of Amara Avenue, who allegedly broke into the house of his ex-girlfriend twenty-three year old Lisa Alvarez and choked her, was charged with Burglary when he appeared today in Magistrates’ Court. Magistrate Tracy Sosa offered Lopez a bail of four thousand dollars and adjourned his case until January fifteenth, 2009, but Lopez was unable to meet bail so he was remanded to prison. The incident occurred around two-forty-five a.m. on Wednesday, November nineteenth.
Alvarez, a resident of Supaul Street, reported to the police that she was at home asleep with her boyfriend and her five year old daughter when she was awakened by three knocks on her bedroom window. She said when she checked she saw that it was her ex-boyfriend, Lopez, who she asked to leave. But instead of leaving, Lopez ripped out a piece of plywood near the window then entered the house and began to choke her.
Alvarez said her boyfriend awoke and intervened on her behalf while her daughter went next door and called her mother who in turn called the police. The police came and broke up the fight between Lopez and Alvarez’s boyfriend and took Lopez into custody and charged him.
