Meet new Lotto winner: Edna Blanco

For the second time in less than a week, a woman has won the lotto. This time around the jackpot was for fifty thousand dollars and the lucky winner hailed not from the west, but the north: she is Edna Blanco of San Estevan Village in the Orange Walk. Blanco picked up her cheque this afternoon at the Tropical Gaming headquarters in Belize City and told us how she got so lucky.

“I went to help a cousin and saw the numbers on a chair and I write it on a piece of paper and when I went to Orange Walk I buy it on Wednesday. When I come back I ask my cousin to buy it for me and when I heard the numbers and I it saw it on the TV, I couldn’t believe it.”

“Finish my house… I noh have no kids.”

After taxes, Blanco took home forty-two thousand five hundred dollars. Her winning numbers were nine, thirteen, nineteen, twenty-three, and thirty-three. The next jackpot is on Saturday for fifty thousand dollars.
