Salvation Army launches annual Kettle Appeal
The Salvation Army is known for its work in humanitarian works and every year at this time, it launches the well known Kettle Drive which helps to provide toys and a Christmas meal to deserving citizens. Regional Commander of the Salvation Army Belize, Major Errol Robateau says the drive is all about sharing.

“We start this time to have enough time to raise as much funds as we can to help the needy throughout the year. We do humanitarian work throughout the year but mainly at Christmas time it’s to give a Christmas dinner to the needy children and toys to those who probably would not have received a toy—both in the city and in parts of the rural areas.”

“How is the whole process done?”
Major Errol Robateau
“Well, what we do is that first of all we try to raise the funds, we make a toy appeal. Simultaneously with the kettle, is the letter appeal and the toy drive. People would bring their toys to the headquarters–we ask each person to buy a toy or if they can afford to buy two toys—they bring it to the headquarters, we would pack it. We would separate them boys and girls and we will take it some time during the December to the various destinations. In the city, we need at least a thousand toys to begin with.”
On the tenth of December, three hundred toys will be given out to school children and on the eleventh seven hundred to children within the city and rural areas.
