Richard Russell back in court, this time for rape
Last year he was charged with the robbery of former prison superintendent turned security consultant, Bernard Adolphus and today Richard Russell was back in court, this time for rape. A sixteen year old female says that on September fifth, around six p.m., twenty-seven year old Richard Russell abducted her in front of Li Chee on Freetown Road by forcing her into a car and taking her to a house on Antelope Street. When they got to the house he took her inside and had sex with her against her will. No plea was taken from Russell because the offence is indictable. Russell claimed that he did not commit the offence and that it was a rival of his who set up the girl to make the report. The prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that Russell might interfere with his victim, a high school student, and other witnesses. Chief Magistrate McKenzie upheld the objection and remanded Russell into custody until December first.
