“Lexus” is freed of Attempted Murder charge

Also in the Supreme Court this morning, nineteen year old Alex “Lexus,” Underwood was freed of a charge of the attempted murder of a fourteen year old minor. Lexus was discharged by Justice Adolph Lucas because the prosecution was not ready to proceed. The prosecution, represented by Crown Counsel Nadine Palacio, requested an adjournment but Justice Lucas pointed out that the court had already allowed several adjournments and discharged the prisoner.

Lexus was charged last October when the fourteen year old boy reported to the police that he was shot on his left hand by a gunman who fired about fifteen shots at him while he ran on Rivero Street towards his home around midnight on the twenty-ninth. The minor also told police that he did not see the gunman because he did not look back as he ran. According to the boy, he had gone to Q Club with a friend to buy food and when they left riding on bicycles, another friend who was riding on the handle warned him that they were being followed by Lexus. The minor says he became fearful and jumped off the bike and ran from Fairweather Street to Rivero Street. After being shot, he was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where the doctor who examined him classified his injury as Grievous Harm. Underwood appeared unrepresented in Court.
