Channel 5 to launch “Open Your Eyes”
Tired of the negativity and doom and gloom on the airwaves in the mornings? Before you get riled up and angry for the start of your day, do you prefer to tune out and turn off the pessimism? Well you don’t need to wait for a change because Channel Five is offering you a positive, educational and lighthearted alternative. Starting next Monday morning from six-thirty to seven-thirty, Channel Five will be premiering its brand new breakfast show called Open Your Eyes. News Five Jose Sanchez dropped by the new studio this morning after a dress rehearsal and spoke to William Neal and myself on how to “start your morning right”.
So don’t forget Mondays to Fridays at six-thirty in the morning to Open your Eyes with William and I.
Marleni Cuellar
“We’re here in the new lobby of the new set for the Channel Five morning show Open Your Eyes and …”
William Neal
“…start your morning right.”
Jose Sanchez
“I guess this is a new show that you are both going to be doing. Is this show going to be like the other morning shows we would see or hear?”
Marleni Cuellar
“No, the morning show is meant to be completely different from what’s out there right now. We are coming from a different angle and with a completely different purpose. We want to inform, but we also want to be able to introduce new segments into what people start their day with.”
Jose Sanchez
“It’s positive?”
William Neal
“Yea, very, very positive. We do things like have a motivational thought for the day. We try to let people see that life is about perspective and if you become a whiner and complainer and if you start of your day … you actually enter the workplace thinking about all the negatives that could happen. We hope that you will start your morning right. It’s not just a tagline, it’s what we truly, truly believe. We want you to start your day differently and definitely start it the right way.”
Marleni Cuellar
“Start it being refreshed, and it’s the same concept with the title of the show “Open Your Eyes.” It’s early in the morning when you open your eyes but it’s opening your eyes to new concepts and new ways of seeing things within Belize. If we’re able to do that within one hour in the morning then our mission has been accomplished.”
Jose Sanchez
“Visually, what do we have? Are we just gonna have a little table with a little boring wallpaper behind you?”
Marleni Cuellar
“That’s one of the exciting parts about it.”
William Neal
“Listen. Just to quell the rumors and everything else, take a walk with me. Marleni …”
Marleni Cuellar
“Are we going to show the one of a kind set?”
William Neal
“Yeah. Why not?”
Marleni Cuellar
“But maybe we should just make everybody tune in on Monday at six-thirty in the morning when you open your eyes and start your morning right.”
Jose Sanchez
“It’s a beautiful set from what I can see and I know you don’t want to show us. But can you at least tell what’s happening in the room behind you?”
Marleni Cuellar
“Alright Jose, this is our control room here. This is where technicians will be working to bring you the show live. As you can see there is a lot going on in there.”
Jose Sanchez
“It’s a very beautiful and impressive set. Who designed it?”
William Neal
“Well I think all kudos must be given to Gilvano Swasey. He and his team of carpenters and welders and I don’t know who else worked on it but they really did an excellent job. I think the key thing about this is how creative he has been and the colors and everything is just …to use Creole words “everything jus di jel.”
Jose Sanchez
“So with your anchoring and your duets and your Gimme Five experience, you really set the bar high, so we should have an exciting show Monday morning. Am I going to open my eyes and start my morning right?”
William Neal
“Well, we hope so. I am, I guess, the veteran in this case. I think we bring a different perspective. I’ll appeal to the younger audience and she’ll appeal to the older audience.”
Marleni Cuellar
“Dream on. So look for us early in the morning.”
William Neal
“And start your morning right.”
Views are advised that the repeat news in the mornings is being programmed for mid-days Mondays to Fridays and it will be streaming live on Five.
