Arrest made in assault of Lake Independence woman

Police say they have the man who early on Wednesday morning entered the home of a woman in the Lake Independence Area, beat her then attempted to rape her. This afternoon, Robert Montejo, a Construction Worker, appeared before Magistrate Albert Hoare and was charged aggravated burglary, attempted rape and grievous harm. Montejo was unrepresented in court and was remanded to Hattieville until November ninth. The fifty-two year old woman is hospitalized at the K.H.M.H. and is still recovering from two broken arms. A Good Samaritan, who was in the neighborhood, found the woman bleeding and rushed to her aid. He said he found her sitting on a bench and bleeding from her injuries.
