James Adderley with the latest sporting stats
“Good evening I’m James Adderley and this is Sports Monday. We’re inside the MCC grounds, where yesterday the City Boys united, formerly Kraal Road, made a stand against Placencia Assassins in a pivotal showdown. In some fifteen minutes into the action, when Leonard Valdez launches this left foot goal, which allows goalkeeper ,Charlie Slusher to show that he still has what it takes. Around the half an hour mark , Jason Kelly gifts this ball to the National team standout Deon McCauley and he show why he is an international scorer with this right foot that give City Boys a 1-0 lead. As full minute later Tyrone Muschamp gets this chance to double the lead but can’t get past the Placencia keeper, Stephen Lopez. Coty Boys look to double the lead when McCauley finds Raymond Gently, who’s left foot low cruise missile is battled out danger by Lopez. Now, watch McCauley as he sets up Tyrone Muschamp to score. T. Bully should have slapped it in immediate, instead he controls the ball and allows the Placencia defence to rob him of goal. So we go to half time and immediately Deon McCauley launches this half volley that forces Lopez into a crucial but embarrassing save. At the other end Leonard Valdez catches up with this ball that gives him a nice look at goal but he doesn’t get quite enough on the ball to bother Charlie Slusher. Naturally folks, Raymond Gentle would want this one back as he unleashes a mighty high riser from point-blank range. International striker Deon McCauley then gets this look at goal but the right foot swing just inches over the horizontal bar. In the meantime folks, here is a footballer’s nightmare, a clash of knees between Raymond Gently, of City Boys United and Placencia’s Ernie Whyte leaves both players in serious pain and neither would be able to continue. On this press, Tyrone Muschamp fires this right foot bomb that is kept out of the goal by the near upright, the rebound reaches Joel Dawson, whose shot is easily collected by Stephen Lopez. We’re some fifty minutes into the ballgame, when Jason Young pushes the pill across the Placencia goal mouth-David Robateau catches up with it and he doubles the City Boy’s lead to 2-0. Dalton Cayetano, in for Gentle, then gets this chance to increase the lead even more; but the left foot travels wide. City Boys United goes on to pick up the three points as they continue to push towards the playoffs.

David Henderson of Indeco won the sprint for third place; Daniel Choto took fourth, while Peter Choto rounds out the top five.
Turning to the basketball scene, we’re inside the Civic Centre for Friday’s monster showdown in the Balling 4 life Tournament, as Belmopan Bandits put their undefeated record against the Belize Bank Bulldogs. And it’s Darwin Leslie sprinting down court to get the Bulldogs going with the easy bucket. Paul Swasey then gets the inbound pass and goes glass to keep the momentum rolling. Pablo would put up an impressive two double of thirteen points and thirteen rebounds in this one. It’s a ten point lead and here Kirk Burgess executes this tough move in traffic. Burgess would lead the Bandits in scoring with twenty points and also twelve rebounds. At the end of the first quarter the Bandits are only down by two points. In the second quarter the Belmopan team makes a move outscoring the Bulldogs by seven. Mark Wager is unattended on the baseline and he strikes for two of fourteen game points. Evan Salazar shuffles his feet and gets away with it for two of his twelve points-tonight he would lead his team on the board with fourteen rebounds. And then Salazar picks up this loose ball to strike for two more. And at the half Belmopan Bandits boast a five point lead. In the third, the Belmopan team picks up where it left off as Lennox Bowman spins and hits for two. Talk about spinning, Christian Rodriguez looks good as he gets two points right here; and Kirk Burgess continues to roll as he ploughs through the Bulldog’s defence for two and would convert the three point opportunity. At the end of three Belmopan is up by nine. An in the meantime folk, the fourth quarter finds the Belize Bank Bulldogs with the initiative- Darwin Leslie finds Lennox Bowman and he gets two points. On the next press Bowman deals to Paul Swasey and the long deuce counts. Swasey then comes back with this offensive rebound and the put back gives the Bulldog’s a 70-69 lead. Off the rejection by Swasey, Rupert Brown links up with Darwin Leslie and the two in automatic-The Belize Bank outscore Belmopan 32 to 17 in the fourth quarter to post the 82-76 final score and the Bandits its first season loss.
Hey folks, that’s our show for today. We invite you back same time, same place next week. Jah over all! I’m James Adderley.”
