P.U.P. has no position on I.C.J.
The government has made it known that it intends to go to the I.C.J. to settle the Belize/Guatemala dispute. But what is the P.U.P.’s view on going to the Hague?
Jose Sanchez
“What’s the party’s view on the government taking the Belize/Guatemala dispute to the International Court of Justice?”
Eamon Courtenay, National Campaign Organizer, P.U.P.
“The People’s United Party continues to support the bipartisan approach to this issue. Notwithstanding that, we have embarked on an education campaign and consultation within the party. We had started that education campaign yesterday and we will be rolling that out during the rest of this month. That will put the national executive, the national party council and the national convention in a position to take an informed decision on whether or not we will support the move to go to the I.C.J. or not. But up until now, the party has not yet taken a decision on what posture it will adopt.”
Jules Vasquez, Channel Seven
“Do you sir have a personal position as Fred Martinez, your closest to your counterpart has declared personal position.”
Eamon Courtenay
“And I would like to keep it that way.”
