Austin Rowland escapes bullets in shootout

Cops believe a shooting in Belize City on Saturday night is gang related. And a Saturn car with license plate number BZ 32327 saved the life of twenty-two year old Austin Rowland in the shooting. Rowland, who was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the incident fled towards Central American Boulevard and was unscathed when three shots which were intended for him caught the vehicle; once on the right front door and twice to the right fender.

According to police, the incident occurred around four on Saturday afternoon when Rowland, who has had run-ins with the law, went to pick up a female friend on Pelican Street. Reports are that a slim built man with dreads and wearing dark shades stalked Rowland and as he parked the car, the man charged towards him with a shiny pistol in his hand. Police have since detained Tyron Gentle aka Beans of Iguana Street for the shooting. Gentle is facing charges of Damage to Property, Aggravated Assault and Attempted Murder.
