Man gets 2 ½ years for illegal gun and ammo

Also in the Magistrates’ Court, twenty-two year old, Jarrett Crawford was sentenced to two and a half years imprisonment for firearm and ammunition offences and the aggravated assault of Police Corporal Gavin Sanchez. Today, Crawford changed his plea from not guilty to guilty when his trial resurfaced in Magistrates’ Court. Although he asked for leniency, Magistrate Roberto Ordonez sentenced Crawford to one year for the firearm offence, one year for ammunition and six months for aggravated assault. The magistrate further stipulated that all three sentences are to be run consecutively to each other.

The incident occurred December twenty-second, 2007 when Corporal Sanchez saw Crawford, who was wanted for a string of robberies, on Ebony Street riding a beach cruiser bicycle. He was approached by Sanchez who said that Crawford fled into a nearby yard. When Sanchez caught up with him, Crawford pointed a point twenty-five pistol at him. Sanchez then pulled out his service nine millimeter pistol and fired three shots, one of which caught Crawford in the abdomen.
