Lemus brothers walk free of Attempted Murder
Two brothers are free tonight of attempted murder charges. Nineteen year old Anibal Lemus and twenty year old Mauricio Lemus were both charged with the attempted murder of Wayne Joseph and were freed today in the court of Justice Herbert Lord. Crown Counsel Francis Turner entered a nolle prosequi, indicating that the prosecution could no longer proceed. The nolle prosequi was entered because Joseph indicated that he no longer desired any court action against the brothers. The incident occurred around six-thirty p.m. on November twelfth, 2006. Joseph was walking his dog, a pit bull, on East Collet Canal Street when an intoxicated man walked up to him and torched his dog on the head. Joseph got into a fight with the man who pulled out a knife on him. While he used the dog’s chain to defend himself from his attacker, another knife wielding man attacked him and stabbed him in the right and left side of his back. The Lemus brothers were not represented by an attorney.
