Crimestoppers yard sale at Old Belize

There’s one activity that will not be postponed due to the heavy rains. That’s the annual Crimestoppers yard sale at Old Belize. When we headed to the venue today, we found a number of items ready for the big sale. News Five’s Delahnie Bain got an early look at what’s in store for Saturday.

There are deals and steals awaiting the public at the Crimestoppers fourth annual yard sale at Old Belize. The sale kicks off at ten on Saturday morning and Crimestoppers Chairman, Francis Woods, says it’s a chance save a buck and support a worthy cause.

“The proceeds are used to help us push the whole process, Crimestoppers, to make posters, to make ads, pay rewards and stuff like that. This sale is definitely an exciting sale. It’s built a reputation for having stuff at really good deals. I’d encourage everybody to come out early because the best deals go first and they just come out to Old Belize. It’ll be safe out here providing we don’t get any tropical storms or hurricanes. We’ll be out here making deals all day long.”

While the available items are too many to mention, Woods gave us an idea of what they’ll have on sale.

Francis Woods

“We have restaurant supplies, we have food items, baby diapers, we have a lot of white baby powder, we have heavy equipment, excavators, diesel engines, trucks, old buses a lot of stuff for scrap. They can get pick-ups from as low as five hundred dollars that have maybe five thousand dollars worth of parts on it. So there will be some good deals out here tomorrow. Everything you can imagine; nice used clothing and household appliances and furniture. There’s one special item that came in yesterday afternoon; two antique beds and an antique buffet table. Some of these items are over three hundred years old so we have some really special antique furniture at very good prices too.”

There is, of course, the concern about the weather. But Woods says that rain or shine, the sale must go on.

Francis Woods

“I know the weather is a little bit bad so everybody’s going to have pay attention to the official news on it but we still plan to have our sale on Saturday because most of the stuff is under the jungle pavilion so it’s sheltered and has all the smaller items. And then the heavy equipment will be in the yard.”

So head out to Old Belize and catch the good deals before they’re gone. Delahnie Bain for News Five.
