House gutted in fire as family observes floods

One family that was not affected by flooding was hit by another disaster. A fire on Saturday evening in San Felipe Village in the Orange Walk District completely destroyed the home of Salvadorian National, Miguel Angel Ardon. According to reports, Ardon, his wife and three kids left home at around one that afternoon to observe the flooding in the area. Upon return at around four p.m., they found their three bedroom wooden house engulfed in flames. The fire started at the northernmost bedroom of the home and reports are that the fire was caused by an electrical shortage. The Ardon family is staying with friends in the village and the community is currently assisting with the rebuilding of their home.
