Taxi driver walks free when complainant was no show
Also in Magistrates’ Court today, twenty-eight year old taxi driver Max Tillett walked free when the virtual complainant in a case of carnal knowledge against him, could not be located. Tillett, married and the father of three children, faced the charge in respect of a complaint by a minor thirteen years old. A nolle prosequi was entered today by Crown Counsel Grant Schoen indicating the prosecution could not proceed for lack of supporting evidence from the complainant. Justice Adolph Lucas told Tillett that he was free to go. The incident allegedly occurred back in August, 2005 at a pharmacy at the Farmer’s Market when residents in the area complained to the child’s mother that they had seen the minor go into the pharmacy with Tillett around closing time. The mother questioned the child who claimed she was carnally known.
