Gun amnesty extended to end of November
The deadline to hand in unlicensed firearms and ammunitions to the police has been extended. The Ministry of National Security today sent out a press release informing the public that the Amnesty period will now run until November thirtieth. The Gun Amnesty program was launched to give the public an opportunity to give up their guns without fear of prosecution. During October, twelve assorted weapons, three flare guns, and one hundred and fifty-four rounds of ammunition were handed in to the various collection points. Until November thirtieth, firearms can be turned in to the CYDP office in Belize City, Youth for the Future offices countrywide, or any police station.
