Telemedia, Scotiabank donate to flood relief
Most of Belize has been affected by flooding brought about by Tropical Depression Number sixteen which swept though Central America three weeks ago. The community and numerous businesses have been touched by the devastation and damages caused to the eighty-four villages and tens of thousands of Belizeans that have been affected. The recovery efforts are underway and this morning the Cayo Disaster Relief Fundraising Appeal organized by NEMO, was launched. Among the many top corporate donors, is Telemedia that pledged ten thousand dollars to the nationwide relief efforts. And according to the telephone company, its staff has also contributed food items to assist flood victims around the country.
The Belmopan branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia this afternoon handed over a five thousand dollar cheque to NEMO to assist communities where the bank operates. The banks employees are also involved in fundraising activities, said bank managing director Patrick Andrews on delivering the cheque.
